Tuscany and Provence with Rome and Paris
A leisurely vacation with two-night stays in the most popular cities of Europe. Enjoy a special welcome dinner with wine in a lively Roman restaurant, and sightseeing including St. Peter’s, the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and the Forum in Rome, via St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doges’ Palace in Venice, to Michelangelo’s David in Florence. Next enjoy a scenic drive along the Mediterranean via Pisa and its Leaning Tower, to Nice on the French Riviera. An exciting ride on the fastest “TGV” train to Paris follows. And of course in Paris a visit to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower has been included.
Day 1 – Board your transatlantic flight to Rome.
Day 2 – ROMA – Arrival, hotel check-in and time to rest; evening dinner with Tour Director and travel companions.
Day 3 – ROMA – Sightseeing includes The Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel’s glorious paintings by Michelangelo; St. Peter’s Square and Basilica; the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Vittorio Emmanuelle’s monument. Rest of day free.
Day 4 – ROMA-ASSISI-VENICE – Scenic motorcoach ride to the medieval town of Assisi; visit the Basilica of St. Francis and admire Giotto’s frescoes. Continue on to Venice.
Day 5 – VENICE – Walking tour admiring the bridges and canals; visit St. Mark’s Square and Cathedral & the Doge’s Palace. Optional cruise to Burano Island to watch the glass blowers, or a Gondola ride.
Day 6 – VENICE – Free time in morning. Afternoon coach ride through the wooded Apennine Mountains into Tuscany, to Florence.
Day 7 – FLORENCE – Walking tour: the Cathedral with Bell Towers and Baptistry Bronze doors, Signoria Square and visit to the Galleria dell’Academia to admire Michelangelo’s David. Afternoon at the Uffizzi Gallery to admire the works of Botticelli, Raphael, Tiziano and many others.
Day 8 – FLORENCE-PISA-GRASSE -NICE – Early departure for Pisa where you will see the amazing leaning tower. Then a scenic drive past the Italian Riviera to the principality of Monaco. We stop at Grasse to visit a perfume factory and arrive in the early evening to beautiful Nice.
Day 9 – NICE – Morning tour of Old Nice, stopping at the Provencal fruit, flower & vegetable market; afternoon excursion to the unique village of ST. PAUL DE VENCE atop a hill. Afternoon optional excursion to ANTIBES visiting the famous Picasso museum.
Day 10 – NICE – PARIS – Transfer to train station to board your super fast TGV train to the city of lights: Paris! Afternoon and evening at leisure to explore.
DAY 11 – PARIS – Guided tour of the city including taking the elevator to the second floor of the TOUR EIFFEL. Optional excursion to VERSAILLES. Or visit the Louvre Museum, the Rodin Museum or the Orsay Museum to continue your Art History Adventure!
DAY 12 – PARIS – Last day in Paris for final shopping; board your transatlantic flight back home in the evening, or EXTEND YOUR STAY and continue enjoying this amazing city.
